Personality: At the first glance of Kazuki Shiranui, it is obvious on how much he can stand out from the crowd. He is the representation of the astrological sign Aries, and shares almost all of the common traits with his sign.
Kazuki is a leader. He comes off as a free spirit who is arrogant and very egoistical, which can lead to some people intimidated or annoyed by him. However, he is also very confident and outgoing. His general attitude is very friendly, but his selfishness still remains as his biggest weakness of his character. He is very over-protective of his friends, always ending up putting their burdens onto himself and sacrificing himself to keep everyone he cares for happy. This tends for everyone to worry about him, but he always assures them that he will be alright, even when he has serious injuries. He continues to smile on through even when there is a lot going on in his mind. He does have a habit of acting before thinking, so even if something offensive comes out of his mouth when he is talking to someone close to him, he doesn't necessary mean it. He doesn't believe that he is a bad person, but even he understands that it's okay for others to hold him back and scold him for his mistakes.
As the Student Council President of Seigetsu Academy, Kazuki works hard to make the school a better place for not only for him, but for everyone. Even if he holds an important role like this, he always works at his own pace and will. He hates it when someone gives him advice or tries to take over his control on the situation. Normally, he slacks off or does something else until he gets scolded by his fellow council member, Hayato Aozora, to get back to work. When he does work, he works very hard so he won’t end up inferior and be praised for his hard labor and its final result.
Kazuki is also very fearless, not afraid to take any risks or challenges that come in his way. Along with this and his selfishness, it is common for him to get hurt. After finding one of his best friends, Ooshiro Shirogane, getting into a fight, he stepped in and saved him. However, the fight resulted in him falling off from the 3rd floor veranda of the school and end up being hospitalized for two months. Kazuki had to repeat his first year for missing a lot of school days and Ooshiro chose to repeat his first year so Kazuki wouldn’t have to go through it alone.
Despite being in a normal setting, Kazuki was born with a strange ability. This ability can be described as short, vague visions into the future. After losing both of his parents in a car accident when he was a small child, Kazuki blamed him on letting his parents die. His powers gave him the vision of the accident, he could not understand on how obscure and puzzling it was to him, even if it was something far from good. Even if he was worried, he did not stop his parents from going out that day. He loved and cherished his parents so much and losing them because of his visions made him hate his power. After moving in with his uncle in the family shrine, Kazuki started to seal off his emotions from others and did not know who he should trust. This caused for him to get into fights a lot with other children. Kazuki continued to fight others, even at one point taught another boy how to defend himself after Kazuki found him hurt from losing a fight. This continued until a little girl stepped in and actually defended him for once in his life.
This child was actually Tsukiko Yahisa, the protagonist of the series. After both of them got into a small fight with three other boys who were about to corner Kazuki, she told Kazuki that he has a weak heart that hides it with his strength. Despite that she was actually true, Kazuki called her weird, but he accepted her into his life. The two grew a friendship and played together often, even with the addition of Tsukiko's other childhood friends. In this period of his life, Kazuki was actually happy and even fell in love with Tsukiko, making her someone that he wants to protect in his life. However, the trio from before attacked once again, kidnapping and locking Tsukiko in a nearby storage shed. Thankfully, Kazuki found her in time before she got any serious injuries. This event made Kazuki upset because he failed to protect something he deeply cares about, which made him declare to himself that he will never lose her like this again. He told Tsukiko to forget all about him, which she did after coming out of shock from the entire event. Even if Tsukiko's memories of Kazuki in her childhood are gone, Kazuki promised to himself that he will always watch after her and never forget the times they had together as children.
As he grew older, his uncle recommended him into Seigetsu Academy to find his goal in life and to strengthen his powers. At this point of his life, Kazuki started to rethink of his powers and find what he can do to make them useful for not only for himself, but for others as well. After becoming the president of the Student Council, he recruited Tsukiko after reuniting with her in school along with Hayato Aozora and Tsubasa Amaha into the council. These three grew into a family for Kazuki as he took the time to get to know them and help with their problems. Kazuki is amazed at Hayato’s attention to detail, but due to Hayato tending to find himself worthless, it’s usually up to Kazuki to snap at him back and inspire him to continue to chase his dreams. Tsubasa, on the other hand, is normally the one who slacks off with Kazuki and tends to cause explosions in the council room when he tries to make a new invention. These explosions mostly cause Kazuki to fight with him and Hayato even once banned Tsubasa from inventing in the Student Council room, which sent Tsubasa into a period of depression. To fix that, Kazuki made a lab in the Student Council room where Tsubasa can invent anytime he wants. Even if he finds him annoying and naive, Tsubasa became like a little brother to Kazuki. From cleaning up messing to avoiding getting Hayato onto his case on not doing any work, Kazuki continues to make the council a happy place, as it’s growing to be the family that he misses so much. At the time graduation came around the corner, he assured to his friends that this doesn't mean he will be gone forever. Despite the bittersweet goodbye, Kazuki assures that he will keep all of his promises and will stay in touch with his "family".
Long story short, Kazuki is very prideful of his own being and does not allow anyone step all over his huge ego. Even when he is very selfish and cocky, he does have general care for his friends and supports them in any way he can. He can be very impatient and quick-tempered, but he continues to inspire people and live out life in the best ways possible.
✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry: [With the video turning on, seeing the face of a very tired individual can be either common or uncommon on the network these days. It's been a few days since his return and apparently, a lot has changed during his absence. Kazuki is laying on some random bench, holding his communicator up in the air to show his face while resting in such a lazy position. Even if he is tired, he still pulls off a grin.]
So, where to begin... Well, introductions are important, right? No use if we don't know each other names while trapped on this weird planet.
My name is Shiranui Kazuki. Does it sound familiar to some of you or am I a stranger to most of you? Ha! I don't really care if you guys don't remember me or not, but I'm still curious if you do remember me or anything. Surely you can't forget a character like me, right?
[He laughs. He doesn't want to admit it, but he sure hopes that nobody forgot him.]
Besides that, if you really know me... As in you are from Seigetsu kind of know me, then speak out. I just saw some of you just moments before coming back here and I just want to check if you got dragged along with me. No hard feelings, right? I guess I will see you guys around if you are here. If not, then I probably just gone crazy finally.
[Joking on that last sentence, of course. He just hangs up right after that without a goodbye or anything. There is still such a lot of his mind, even after graduation.]
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry: At first, everything seemed normal. Taking those first few steps out of the school gates after the ceremony gave him an odd feeling. Not the feeling where he had to say his goodbyes and leave with his fellow seniors to go on with their lives to become full adults in the working world. This feeling was different and in a flash, he wasn't outside the school anymore. His ex-classmates were gone from his sight. He wasn't exactly sure if he passed out, but opening his eyes to a beautiful scenery on the ceiling is something that he wasn't expecting. He was just walking a second ago and now he is resting on top of a cool surface. He would guess that he fell asleep at some point, but if that happened, then he would have remembered that span of time between walking and sleeping.
And, there it was: a sharp but quick pain right in his neck that quickly made him sit up in surprise once he was awake enough to trigger the pain. To his surprise, it was actually a familiar pain. The area around him looks different yet he feels like he's been here before. The glow on his skin took him a while to notice, finally fading when he looks into the nearby mirror. He had this tattoo before, didn't he?
Everything became a bit more clear once Kazuki opened up the letter that was addressed to him, resting on the stone podium nearby. He knows exactly where he is now, for the second time. Between the span of going back home to this exact moment, it only felt like a few weeks at his world where he had an amazing last few days before leaving the school for good. Good for moving on with his life, but bad to leave a few precious people behind. It's not too bad that they agreed to keep in touch, but that might not happen for a while. How does he feel to return back to a different world away from family and friends? Unless they got dragged into this mess with him, then he's pretty annoyed about it. Not that he's asking for his friends to be stuck here with him in the first place.
He can remember from his previous stay on those weird situations that led him to awkward encounters with either friends he already knew before coming here or new friends that he made. There were some good memories and bad memories, but that's just life in general for you no matter if you are on a different planet or not. Well, that's how he believed what life is, not speaking for everyone else since everyone holds their own views on the subject. He doesn't understand why the gods changed their minds on bringing him back if they just let him go in the first place. His general reaction is mostly surprised and a bit annoyed since he would assume that leaving once mean that he was back at home for good. He can't tell just yet how long he has been gone from this world, but he feels like he is just starting over all over again.
The message from the letter looks the same to him as before... or as much as he can remember it. Either way, the reason appears to be the same on the gods praising his talents and requiring his help for a second time. The feelings of confusion and annoyance are still mixed up inside of his head and his heart, like he is just getting messed around with until he breaks. He's not a fragile toy, but even the sturdiest have their cracks. Graduation already put enough on his mind and now his brain might just explode if another sudden even like this happens to him.
Taking the necessary items he needs, he walks out the door to scan the area. The weather has a chill on it, but the combination of nature and noticeable architecture just influences that sense of familiarity. He should calm himself down a little, check out the area, and attempt to call up a few people to see if anyone he knows is still here or arrived along with him. A loud sigh escapes from his mouth, already growing frustrated with over-thinking on even the littlest things. He knows standing around won't get him anywhere, so perhaps taking little steps would a great idea. Knowing himself, he would take on everything at once without realizing it. The harder way is the more preferred way for him. He begins his descend down the stairs, thinking about seeing old faces and meeting new faces while figuring out where exactly to start out.
